Octave Maze Live is a live performance programme that transforms Asvin Cultural and Contemporary Art Space into a laboratory for sound and performance. Through a diverse series of live performances, musicians, sound artists, performers, DJs, and creative practitioners
Each artist brings a different perspective and approach. From contemporary music and live electronics to performance art, improvisation, and hybrid practices, every performance offers a unique encounter and transforms the experience in its own way.

Octave Maze is a kinetic installation with a counterweight system by Wit Pimkanchanapong, developed from the artist’s ongoing exploration of the idea of the maze, a recurring theme in his recent works.
The installation was designed to move in response to the sound of all 88 keys of a modern piano, transforming sound into movement through its internal mechanism. In doing so, it makes sound visible while creating a constantly shifting spatial experience.
The work was first presented at One Bangkok in late 2024. It was later developed to connect with the historical narratives and film soundtracks of Thai Film and Asvin Pictures, and was presented as Octave Maze Asvin Collection at Asvin Cultural and Contemporary Art Space during Bangkok Design Week 2025.

Octave Maze เป็นผลงานศิลปะจัดวางแบบจลน์ (kinetic installation) ที่ใช้ระบบถ่วงน้ำหนัก สร้างสรรค์โดย วิชญ์ พิมพ์กาญจนพงศ์ โดยต่อยอดจากแนวคิดเรื่อง “เขาวงกต” ซึ่งปรากฏในผลงานช่วงหลังของวิชญ์ ตัวงานได้รับการพัฒนาให้สามารถเคลื่อนไหวผ่านการสื่อสารกับเสียงทั้ง 88 คีย์ของเปียโนสมัยใหม่ โดยแปลงเสียงให้เป็นการเคลื่อนไหวของระบบภายใน ที่ทำให้เสียงปรากฎเป็นภาพ และสร้างความรู้สึกกับพื้นที่ที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไป จัดแสดงครั้งแรกที่ One Bangkok ในช่วงปลายปี 2567 ก่อนจะได้รับการพัฒนาให้เชื่อมโยงกับเรื่องเล่าเชิงประวัติศาสตร์และเพลงประกอบภาพยนตร์ของบริษัทไทยฟิล์มและอัศวินภาพยนตร์ และจัดแสดงในชื่อ Octave Maze Asvin Collection ณ พื้นที่ศิลปวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัยอัศวิน ในงาน Bangkok Design Week 2025

Sound emerged from the emptiness within the mind creates a space for listening, feeling, and travelling through sound in an improvised performance by Thonon and Atichart. Together, they generate sound waves that move freely between instruments, effects, and the surrounding space. We hope our sound can become part of this free journey. Within Octave Maze, these sound waves do not end with listening alone, but also respond to the kinetic installation. Through the diversity of our sonic expressions, we hope to continue experimenting and creating new experiences together.

Across Molam Spectrum by Papanin K explores the many dimensions of Molam, reimagining the tradition through electronics, guitar, and the khaen.
The performance invites audiences on a journey across musical boundaries and through different moments in music history—from the nostalgic melodies of traditional Molam, to the lively rhythms of Luk Thung shaped by Latin influences during Thailand’s musical transformation, and finally to synthesizer-driven soundscapes that imagine possible futures.
Born and raised in Bangkok, Papanin K developed a deep passion for Molam despite beginning her musical training with piano and guitar. Her background spans classical, pop, rock, and jazz, before studying music production and electronic music, where she found a way to translate the sounds of Molam she had long imagined into a contemporary form. This led to the development of her signature approach to electronic Molam.
Today, Papanin K is an artist with Mutation Wave Music Agency, where her work continues to reach wider audiences while expanding the possibilities of traditional Thai music through contemporary sound.

Dreamed Siam
There is another Siam—one that appears on no map and exists in no written record, yet continues to live within the imagination of those who have dreamed of it.
Dreamed Siam is a live performance by UNICH Clarinet Ensemble that invites audiences into this imagined realm. Here, traces of forgotten splendour linger among silent ruins, ancient myths continue to whisper through stories and characters, and echoes of ritual connect distant spirits through traditional performance practices. The journey then follows great rivers flowing between towering cliffs and into the sea, tracing the lives, exchanges, and encounters of people from different cultures across generations.
The performance brings together contemporary works by Thai composers, interpreted by a clarinet ensemble alongside improvisation with traditional instruments and live performance that explores the relationship between body and sound. Within Octave Maze, these elements enter into dialogue with the space, creating new and evolving relationships between music, movement, and environment.
The performance opens with a traditional Phleng Hom Rong (overture), marking the threshold between the everyday and the imagined, and inviting audiences to step into the world of Dreamed Siam

Sympnoia is an electroacoustic live performance developed from recorded instrumental materials, including cello, timpani and processed sonic traces. The work begins from a fixed composition, but treats fixation as a point of departure rather than a final form. Through live diffusion and real-time manipulation, the piece enters into dialogue with the Octave Maze installation, allowing its spatial behaviour to be activated and continuously reconfigured during the performance.
Using materials derived from the fixed work, the performer reshapes the formal curve of the composition in real time, creating a tension between writing, recording, gesture and listening. Sympnoia questions the idea of musical form as something entirely contained in the score, proposing instead an unstable architecture of resonances, layers and transitions, in which recorded instrumental presences become living, spatial matter.

No animal has captivated humans more than birds. For centuries, their songs announce the arrival and departure of a day, while their migratory flights coincide with spring and autumn. Across many cultures, birds symbolize freedom, fortune, peace, longevity; even death and transcendence.
Inspired by birds, this performance transforms various songs, habitats, personal and cultural significance of birds into an immersive audiovisual experience. Music compositions and field recordings will be featured in the performance to investigate how different density of sounds, permutations of musical motives, and silence signifies “birds” through an activation of light and the kinetic movements of the Octave Maze.
